The 7th Annual AWANA Grand Prix was tons of fun. The kids had a great time cheering on each other, showing off their creations, and eating lots of snacks. The Cubbies got to enjoy the race from "pit row" and got so excited when their car was up to race. Matthew came in 3rd every time he raced and was a really good sport. Pastor Michael, you're lucky you moved while you were a head on design and speed. This year we had some really impressive cars including a "Wii" remote, courtesy of the Barkers, and a cute penguin with wings, courtesy of the Grubich family.
Our speed champ was Michael Funk this year, his Daddy was so proud :)
Here is Matthew's "speedy fast quick bumblebee one" car. Try saying that 5 times fast, he did. Repeatedly. Matthew changed his mind from a space ship to a Transformers car hours before the race. He's very proud of his work.

The other day, Daniel asked what the date was. when I told him he said "Yes, I want to go to the car race." I knew he was talking about AWANA. It is amazing that he remembered about the time of year that it was. We are sad we missed it. I am so glad you all had fun!!!!
Such a cool car, Matthew!! Michael couldn't say the name five times fast... he kept messing up and it always led to tons of laughter- then it became a game to say it as often as he could! What fun! The race was fun- and the kids had such fun!!
